“Those who have experienced war firsthand have a unique responsibility to speak honestly about its human cost—and to work for peace.”

Who We Are

Veterans For Peace Chapter 35 is part of an international organization of military veterans, military family members, and allies committed to building a culture of peace. Our members have served in every branch of the United States Armed Forces and are joined by associate members who share our mission.

Centered in Spokane, Washington, our chapter serves communities throughout the Inland Northwest through education, advocacy, public engagement, and community service. We believe those who have experienced war firsthand have a unique responsibility to speak honestly about the human cost of war and to work toward peaceful alternatives.

Our Mission

  • Build a culture of peace.
  • Expose the true costs of war.
  • Heal the wounds of war.
  • Promote justice through nonviolent action.
  • Support veterans, military families, and all victims of war.

What We Do

Chapter 35 sponsors educational programs, peace vigils, community forums, veteran outreach, public demonstrations, and partnerships throughout the Inland Northwest. We work to educate the public, encourage civic engagement, and provide opportunities for veterans and community members to advocate for peaceful solutions to conflict.

Our Approach

We believe peaceful action is one of the strongest expressions of democracy. Through education, public witness, coalition building, and veteran leadership, we seek to inspire dialogue, reduce violence, and create lasting change within our communities. Our work is grounded in respect, compassion, and the firsthand experiences of military veterans committed to peace.

Leadership

After military service, he graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary and served as a Presbyterian minister for more than 36 years before later serving as Chaplain at Eastern State Hospital. He continues to lead Chapter 35 with a commitment to educating the public about the true costs of war.
